China Opposes U.S. Criticism Over Taiwan, Urges Respect for One-China Principle
China has firmly opposed recent U.S. Criticism regarding Taiwan, urging Washington to respect the one-China principle and adhere to the provisions of the three China-U.S. Joint communiqués. The Chinese government reiterated its position that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory and called on the United States to cease actions that interfere in China’s internal affairs.
Beijing emphasized that any attempt by the U.S. To use the Taiwan issue to contain China will fail and warned that such actions could severely damage bilateral relations. The statement came amid ongoing tensions over Taiwan’s status, with China maintaining that reunification must be achieved under the one-China framework.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson reiterated that the one-China principle is a universally recognized norm in international relations and a political foundation for China-U.S. Ties. Any violation of this principle, the spokesperson said, undermines peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.
China’s position remains consistent: it opposes any form of official interaction between the United States and Taiwan, including arms sales and high-level exchanges, which it views as infringing upon its sovereignty. Beijing continues to advocate for peaceful reunification but has not ruled out the use of force if necessary.
As cross-strait tensions persist, China urges the international community to recognize the one-China principle and refrain from supporting any moves toward Taiwan independence. The stability of the Taiwan Strait, China asserts, depends on adherence to this principle and respect for China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
