Freeway Sergeant Roy Lisath Retires After 32 Years with Columbus Police

After nearly 32 years of service to the City of Columbus, Freeway Sergeant Roy Lisath retired on February 27, 2026. Sgt. Lisath’s career began with the Columbus Division of Police in 1994, and he has been recognized for his leadership and dedication throughout his tenure.

A Career of Service and Leadership

Sgt. Lisath’s career spanned multiple roles within the Division of Police. He served on 2 Precinct and Zone 5 before becoming the PoliceNet Operations Sergeant. He ultimately achieved his goal of serving as a Freeway Sergeant.

Throughout his career, Sgt. Lisath coached 25 officers and mentored 7 sergeants, demonstrating a commitment to developing the next generation of law enforcement professionals. He embodied the motto from his prior military service, “Mission First, People Always.”

Beyond the Badge: Community and Faith

In addition to his police perform, Sgt. Lisath is as well the Bishop of the Grace and Mercy Fellowship Center. He plans to continue this work in retirement, as well as his involvement with the Columbus Police Department (CPD) Chaplaincy Program, which he co-founded in 2014.
