Companies must always keep their finger on the pulse of the times. In a world in which data processing plays an increasingly vital role, this particularly applies to facts technology. But it is indeed also critically important to be socially relevant. That’s why large companies have basic research departments on the one hand and,on the other hand, support charitable projects or give their employees the opportunity to do so.

Dekabank, which is part of the savings bank association, has been involved in the International High-rise Prize for decades and has had an art collection for just as long.Your employees can receive donations from the company for a project that is close to their hearts or donate the crooked amounts of their monthly salary through the “Restcent campaign”.

NFTs and fundamental questions of art

At Deka, the topic of basic IT research covers, among other things, the “Open Digital Factory”: In a protected space, so to speak, free from the obligation to create marketable products, you can try out what you can do wiht a technology and what you can use it for. When there was an NFT frenzy in the crypto world a few years ago, Deka asked itself the question in this context: What are NFTs really good for?

NFTs are, so to speak, certificates that certify ownership or the authenticity of a digital or physical object based on the blockchain technology known from cryptocurrencies. They are unique and cannot be interchanged one-to-one – hence their name: non-fungible tokens. The connection to art was quickly established, says Valery Trosdorf, head of Deka’s social engagement department. In art, the question of what is unique always arises, says the trained art historian. “And NFTs claim to guarantee precisely this uniqueness.”
