Dell Unveils Premium Laptop Lineup with Intel Core Ultra Processors

Dell has introduced the Dell 16 Premium and Dell 14 Premium laptops, representing a new “Dell Premium” branding strategy for its high-conclude consumer laptops. These models, which succeed the XPS line, emphasize design, performance, and sustainability, incorporating Intel Core Ultra 200H series processors and advanced display options.

New Naming Structure and Design Philosophy

The shift to the Dell Premium naming structure aims to simplify Dell’s laptop portfolio while maintaining a focus on quality and industrial design. Both the Dell 16 Premium and Dell 14 Premium inherit design cues from the XPS series, featuring sleek aesthetics and premium materials like CNC aluminum and Gorilla Glass 3 Dell.

Performance and Processors

Both laptops are powered by Intel Core Ultra 200H series processors, which Dell states deliver improved performance in everyday tasks and creative workloads compared to previous generations. The laptops support memory speeds up to 8400MHz, enhancing multitasking and video editing capabilities. Dell highlights “advanced multithreading” contributing to performance gains of up to 23% in demanding tasks, based on internal testing.

Display Options

Dell has increased screen sizes without increasing the overall footprint of the laptops. The Dell 14 Premium features a 14.5-inch display, while the Dell 16 Premium boasts a 16.3-inch display, both utilizing narrow “InfinityEdge” bezels. Customers can opt for OLED panels with up to 4K resolution and a 120Hz variable refresh rate. Alternatively, a 2K LCD option is available, prioritizing longer battery life – up to 20 hours of streaming on the Dell 14 Premium and up to 27 hours on the Dell 16 Premium, according to Dell’s internal Netflix playback tests.

Dell 16 Premium: Power and Connectivity

The Dell 16 Premium is geared towards users requiring sustained CPU performance and graphics capabilities. It can deliver up to 45W of sustained CPU performance, depending on the configuration. It also supports discrete graphics options, including Nvidia GeForce RTX 50 Series Laptop GPUs based on Nvidia’s Blackwell architecture, with Nvidia DLSS 4 support Dell. Connectivity includes an option for Intel Thunderbolt 5, supporting up to 80/120Gbps and the ability to drive up to four 8K displays.

Dell 14 Premium: Portability and Efficiency

The Dell 14 Premium focuses on portability while maintaining high-end components. Integrated graphics performance is up to 29% faster for everyday tasks, according to Dell’s internal tests. An optional Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 laptop GPU is also available. The Dell 14 Premium supports Wi-Fi 7, offering up to 4.8 times faster throughput.

Sustainability and Software

Dell emphasizes sustainability with the Premium range, ensuring the laptops meet Energy Star requirements and hold EPEAT Gold registration with a Climate+ designation. Recycled aluminum and post-consumer recycled plastics are used in construction. Packaging is made from 100% recycled or renewable content. Both laptops run Windows 11 and include Copilot on Windows, Microsoft’s AI assistant. Dell also notes the upcoming end of support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025, encouraging users to upgrade to newer systems for built-in security and on-device AI capabilities.

Availability

Select configurations, including a version with Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 graphics and a specific Dell 16 Premium model used in battery life testing, are expected to ship later in the summer.
