Teh Los Angeles Dodgers’ bullpen addition, Brock Stewart, will undergo surgery, ending his season.

MLB.com reported on September 27th (Korea time) that Stewart’s season is over.

Dodgers manager Brandon Gomez stated,”Stewart will have shoulder surgery and is expected to return in the first half of next year.”

Stewart initially debuted in the Major Leagues with the dodgers in 2016, demonstrating stability in 39 games with a 2-1 record, 14 holds, and a 3.91 ERA. The Dodgers, facing bullpen challenges, acquired Stewart in a trade involving outfielder James Outman.

This marks Stewart’s return to the Dodgers six years after 2019.However, his performance fell short of expectations. He struggled with the Minnesota Twins, posting a 4.91 ERA without a win in four games during august. An injury then compounded the issue; shoulder inflammation led to his placement on the injured list on August 13th.

Stewart was anticipated to return during the final week of the regular season after three rehabilitation starts in Triple-A. However, persistent shoulder pain led to the finding requiring surgery, ultimately ending his season.

“I spoke with several catchers. He really wanted to help the team,” Gomez added.
