ElevenLabs Acquires Open-Source Read-It-Later App Omnivore

Generative AI company ElevenLabs has made a strategic move by acquiring the team behind Omnivore, a popular open-source read-it-later app. This acquisition signals ElevenLabs’ continued commitment to expanding its ecosystem and providing innovative tools for creators and readers alike.

In a joint blog post, Omnivore co-founders Jackson Harper and Hongbu Wu expressed their excitement about joining ElevenLabs, stating, “This decision ensures that the broader development community can continue to build upon and improve Omnivore’s technology.”

Omnivore boasted a robust feature set, including highlighting, PDF and offline support, apps for web, iOS, and Android, and extensions for major web browsers. The app also integrated ElevenLabs’ voice generation API, enabling text-to-speech functionality for a truly immersive reading experience.

Omnivore users are being given a window until November 16th to export their data. After this date, the data will be permanently deleted.
