Spring Into Healthy Habits: Free Nutrition Workshops Offered at UOG
The University of Guam (UOG) is offering a free nutrition education workshop series, “Spring Into Healthy Habits,” designed to empower community members with practical skills for healthier living. The series is open to individuals aged 18 and older and aims to provide actionable strategies for improving everyday routines through mindful grocery shopping, effective meal planning, and sustainable lifestyle changes.
Workshop Details
The four-class series will be held from 10 a.m. To 11 a.m. On Wednesdays, April 1, 8, 15, and 22, in Room 125 of the Agriculture and Life Sciences Building on the UOG campus. Each session will feature a light and fresh spring-themed recipe, including crunchy Thai salad, fruit crisps, eskabeche, and spring rolls.
What You’ll Learn
Led by registered dietitian nutritionist Lenora Matanane and SNAP-Ed educators Dianne Sardon, Katrina Nguyen, Niza Mian, and Ella Macatugal, the workshops will cover a range of essential nutrition and wellness topics, including:
- Creating a weekly meal plan and organized grocery list
- Shopping smart on a budget
- Building balanced meals
- Increasing consumption of whole grains
- Understanding food processing
- Reading Nutrition Facts labels and identifying added sugars
- Setting SMART goals for long-term success
- Incorporating physical activity, sleep, and food safety into daily routines
Incentives for Participation
Participants who attend at least three out of the four workshops will receive free wellness items to support their journey toward healthier habits.
