Thai Masseuse in Galway Stops Accepting Male Clients After Harassment
Yosita Fitzpatrick, owner of Connemara Thai Massage in Letterfrack, County Galway, Ireland, has announced she will no longer accept male clients following a barrage of inappropriate requests and harassment. Fitzpatrick reported some of the incidents to the Gardaí (Irish police).
Rising Concerns and Inappropriate Conduct
Fitzpatrick established Connemara Thai Massage in October. Shortly after beginning bookings, she began receiving unsolicited and inappropriate inquiries, including requests for sexual services and explicit images. She stated the harassment began “the second” she started taking bookings according to a recent interview.
The situation significantly impacted Fitzpatrick’s mental health, leading her to consider closing the business. Before the decision, her clientele was 60% female and 40% male, primarily local residents.
Addressing Stereotypes and Seeking Support
Fitzpatrick expressed her frustration with the stereotypes associated with Thai women, stating, “I am fully aware that, in the eyes of the world, the phrase ‘Thai women’ evokes unfair and negative stereotypes – portraying us merely as objects of desire.” She emphasized her profession as a therapist focused on healing and her desire to continue providing legitimate massage services.
She acknowledged the inconvenience for respectful male clients but asserted her need to prioritize her safety and well-being. Fitzpatrick announced on social media that any further sexually harassing messages would be directly forwarded to the Gardaí.
Broader Issues of Harassment Faced by Migrant Women
Teresa Buczkowska, a spokesperson for the Immigrant Council of Ireland, highlighted the prevalence of harassment experienced by migrant women. Speaking on The Claire Byrne Display, Buczkowska noted a societal perception that migrant women are available for sexual services, leading to unwanted advances and propositions as reported by Newstalk.
Buczkowska shared personal anecdotes and examples of harassment faced by migrant women even in seemingly innocuous situations, such as offering legitimate services like ironing.
Gardaí Response
The Gardaí confirmed they received a report of an incident in County Galway on February 13, 2026, and that inquiries are ongoing according to MSN.
