After a wet summer, Germany is experiencing a golden autumn. Temperatures are surprisingly mild for the time of year, and sunshine dominates the weather picture.

Many regions are enjoying temperatures well above the average for mid-October. On Tuesday, values of up to 20 degrees Celsius are expected, especially in the south and west. Even in the north, it will be pleasantly mild with around 16 to 18 degrees.

“We are experiencing a late Indian summer,” explains meteorologist dominik Jung. “High pressure ‘Zenith’ is bringing stable, dry air and lots of sunshine to Germany.”

The mild temperatures are also noticeable in nature. The leaves are turning colorful, but the foliage is not yet falling as quickly as usual. Many trees still wear their full splendor.

Though, the good weather will not last forever. From Wednesday onwards, the weather will gradually turn more autumnal.Temperatures will drop, and there will be more clouds and occasional rain. But even then, it will not be bitterly cold.

the start of autumn is proving to be surprisingly pleasant this year. Anyone who enjoys the colorful forests and mild temperatures should make the most of it in the next few days.

The life satisfaction of people in Germany is apparently stabilizing at a high level: this is shown by the new “SKL Happiness Atlas”. “The recovery after the pandemic is complete,” said “Glücksatlas” director Bernd Raffelhüschen.

Corona-Pandemic seems ticked off

Almost half of those surveyed (48 percent) were highly satisfied with their own lives – as many as in the record year of 2019, before the corona pandemic. More enjoyment from work, family and leisure time is offset by declining satisfaction with one’s own income.

Older people are less satisfied

Weaker regions are catching up

According to the survey, the differences between the federal states are becoming smaller: “Top countries are stagnating, while the previously weaker regions are catching up,” it says. the happiest Germans once again live in Hamburg, followed by Bavaria, Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia at the top. At the end, as in the previous year, are Bremen, Berlin and Saarland; Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania remains distant in 16th place.
