Google Speedy Share Now Works With AirDrop, Expanding File Sharing Options
Google brought Quick Share interoperability with Apple’s AirDrop to teh Pixel 10 series in November 2025, marking a meaningful step towards seamless file sharing between Android and Apple devices. This new feature allows users to directly share files without relying on cloud servers, offering a faster and more private experiance.
During a recent press briefing, Eric kay, Google’s vice president of engineering for Android, confirmed that Google has successfully “validated this functionality” on Pixel phones. He also stated that the company is actively collaborating with other Android device manufacturers to broaden the availability of this feature. While Google hasn’t yet revealed which brands will be the first to adopt it, or a specific timeline for the wider rollout, the intention is clear: to make file sharing easier for everyone, regardless of their smartphone operating system.
This integration addresses a long-standing frustration for many smartphone users who often face compatibility issues when trying to share files between Android and iOS devices. Previously, users typically had to rely on third-party apps or cloud-based services, which could be slower and raise privacy concerns. With Quick Share and AirDrop now working together, the process becomes much more streamlined and secure.
The rollout to additional Android devices is expected to happen in phases. Google is prioritizing partnerships to ensure a smooth and reliable experience for all users. As more manufacturers integrate this functionality, we can anticipate a future where sharing files between Android and Apple devices is as simple as a few taps.
