Abbas Rejects Hamas Role, Seeks International Support for Palestinian State

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Palestinian President Mahmoud abbas delivered a strong message regarding Hamas while urging the international community to fully support the creation of a Palestinian state. Speaking at the UN General Assembly on Thursday, September 25, 2025, Abbas rejected any political role for Hamas in the future, condemned antisemitism, adn cautioned against the dangers of israeli annexation plans.

The 89-year-old leader had to deliver his speech via video conference after the United States denied him a visa to attend in person in New York. This address came just days after France hosted a special summit, followed by several Western countries, that officially recognized Palestine as a state.
