Harry Styles Finds Inspiration in Radiohead’s Performance, Announces Modern Tour Format

Harry Styles has revealed that seeing Radiohead perform during their 2025 residency profoundly impacted his approach to live shows and influenced his latest album, Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally, set to release on March 6th. Styles also touched on the personal loss of his former One Direction bandmate, Liam Payne, and his dedication to running.

Radiohead’s Impact on Styles’ Creative Process

Styles described a pivotal moment while attending a Radiohead concert in Berlin. “I went to spot Radiohead in Berlin, and felt so part of the audience,” he shared in an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. “I had a very clear moment of, ‘This is why I get on stage.’”

He elaborated on the powerful connection he witnessed between the band and the audience: “I’m watching this and feeling everything that’s happening around me in the crowd. There’s people picking up each other’s things and people are bringing each other things. It’s this sense of strangers looking at each other and massaging each other’s shoulders when someone’s emotional and looking into the eyes of a stranger and screaming out a chorus together. I had a moment of like, ‘I’m there so that people can have this,’ you know? I’m soundtracking this.”

This experience followed earlier inspiration drawn from LCD Soundsystem, which Styles had previously cited as influencing his new musical direction. Stereogum and NME both reported on Styles’ comments.

“Together, Together” Residency Tour

Inspired by Radiohead’s residency model, Styles is embarking on a “Together, Together” tour. He believes this format will enhance the concert experience, allowing for a more developed and immersive demonstrate. “I think you can build something that doesn’t have to travel every night,” Styles explained. “I think the show itself is better.” Consequence details this shift in touring strategy.

Personal Reflections: Loss and Marathon Running

The interview with Zane Lowe also touched upon the passing of Liam Payne in 2024. Styles spoke candidly about the difficulty of navigating grief when it is publicly shared. “I think there was a period when he passed away where I really struggled with acknowledging how strange it is to have people kind of own a part of your grief in a way,” he said. He emphasized the importance of honoring Payne’s memory by living life to the fullest.

Styles also discussed his passion for running, having recently completed the Berlin Marathon in under three hours and appearing on the cover of Runner’s World magazine, interviewed by Haruki Murakami. He described running as a personal challenge and a “conversation with myself,” distinct from the collaborative nature of music creation.
