Staffing Shortages Prompt Temporary Closure of Milwaukee Health Clinic
A Milwaukee health clinic on the cityS north side is temporarily closed due to staffing shortages. The Milwaukee Health Department’s sexual and reproductive health clinic at Keenan Health Center, near 36th and Fond du Lac, is affected.
The department stated the closure is a result of a staffing shortage and is actively recruiting public health nurses. Hiring events are scheduled for November 18th, 21st, and December 1st.
During the closure, residents needing STI testing are encouraged to visit these three other clinics:
- Milwaukee Health Services on MLK Drive
- Lisbon Avenue Health Center on Lisbon Avenue
- 12th Street Urgent Care on 12th Street
Keenan Health Center is still providing TB testing and assistance services, even with the sexual and reproductive health clinic temporarily closed.
The Health Department Commissioner is expected to address the impact of the closure and discuss what led to the staffing shortages later today.
