Further suspensions include 1,711 PKH beneficiaries in Bantul Regency, 1,106 in Sleman Regency, 938 in Yogyakarta City, and 849 in Kulon progo Regency.
Verification and Clarification Process
Endang explained that local social service agencies will inform PKH beneficiaries whose assistance has been temporarily suspended. Since PPATK’s findings are based on identification numbers and account data, verification will be conducted with PKH partners in each region to confirm any evidence of gambling activity.
Beneficiaries suspected of involvement will be given an possibility to clarify their situation.
“If no one objects or complains, that implies the information is accurate,” Endang said.
Endang also noted that investigations suggest those participating in online gambling (“Judol”) are not always registered as PKH beneficiaries themselves, but often family members are.
“His wife may not have been a gambler, but her husband or children were.Either way, they were gambling. Even though she didn’t admit it, it turned out that it was her family members who were gambling,” he said.
The government will disqualify beneficiaries from receiving social assistance if they are found to have used funds for illegal activities like gambling.
