Trump Issues Stark Warning After Iran Strikes Qatar Gas Field

The Islamic Republic’s missile assault, in retaliation for an alleged Israeli strike, raises regional tensions and prompts a strong response from the former U.S. President.

U.S. President Donald Trump reacted angrily late Wednesday to an Iranian missile attack on Qatar’s Ras Laffan Industrial City, which houses significant natural gas infrastructure. The attack, according to Iranian state media, was in retaliation for what it claimed was an Israeli Air Force (IAF) strike on its part of the same gas field. Israel has not taken credit for that earlier attack.

“This was a reckless and dangerous act by the Iranian regime,” Trump stated in a released statement. “They are playing with fire, and they will face severe consequences if they continue down this path.”

The attack on Ras Laffan has raised concerns about the security of global energy supplies. Qatar is a major exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG), and any disruption to its production could have significant economic repercussions.

Qatar Airways has been affected by the escalating conflict, suspending most flight operations due to the closure of Qatari airspace. Still, the airline announced on March 5, 2026, that it would begin operating a limited number of relief flights from Muscat, Oman, to several European cities, including London, Berlin, and Amsterdam, to assist stranded passengers as reported by ABC News.

The broader conflict between the U.S. And Israel with Iran began on February 28, 2026, with massive joint strikes targeting Iranian military facilities as detailed by Al Jazeera.

The situation remains highly volatile, with further escalation possible. Trump has indicated a willingness to take further action to deter Iran, stating that the U.S. Will “do what it takes” to protect its interests and those of its allies.
