Alleged Bjorka Hacker Arrested in North sulawesi
The Jakarta Police have arrested an alleged hacker believed to be using the alias Bjorka, though it remains unconfirmed whether he is the same individual responsible for a string of high-profile data breaches targeting government institutions between 2022 and 2024.
Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Adj. Comr. Reonald Simanjuntak said the suspect, identified only as 22-year-old WFT, was arrested in Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi, on Sept. 23.
Reonald said WFT was arrested in connection with an incident in February, when an X account with the handle @bjorkanesiaaa, which has now been suspended, uploaded a screenshot of a private bank’s database, claiming to have hacked the records of 4.9 million customers. the account also sent a private message to the bank’s official account in an attempt to extort the institution.
The bank instantly reported the incident to the Jakarta Police.
“After a six-month investigation,we found that WFT was the owner of the X account,” Reonald said during a press conference on Thursday,as quoted by Kompas.com.
