Jessie Ware’s “Ride” Channels Morricone, Previews Upcoming Album Superbloom

Jessie Ware has released “Ride,” the latest single from her forthcoming album, Superbloom, slated for release on April 10 via Interscope Records. The track, which premiered at NYC Downlow at Glastonbury in 2024, notably interpolates the iconic theme song from Ennio Morricone’s score for the 1967 spaghetti western The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

Ware described the song as the first she wrote for Superbloom, creating it in 2024 with Jack Peñate and Karma Kid, both of whom contribute to the album. She characterizes “Ride” as “a song for the clubs, for the dancefloor—fun, cinematic, cheeky and powerful.” She shared the song after waiting two years to release it, acknowledging fan anticipation.

The single follows the release of “I Could Get Used to This” last month, offering another glimpse into the sound of Superbloom. According to Ware, the album represents a continuation of the fantasy and escapism explored in her previous work, What’s Your Pleasure?, while also delving into themes of love and the fear of loss.

Superbloom features production from James Ford, Barney Lister, Karma Kid, Jon Shave (Charli XCX), and Stuart Price, with mixing by Ben Baptie (Sault, Little Simz, Adele).

“Ride” incorporates elements of disco and western influences, with “squirmy synth riffs and ballroom strings” contributing to its atmosphere according to Slant Magazine. Lyrically, the song maintains Ware’s signature blend of sensuality and wit.
