Kaizer Chiefs’ Christmas Wish List: Midfield Makeover in Sight
Kaizer Chiefs fans are dreaming big this Christmas, as rumours swirl about potential new additions to their squad, particularly in midfield. Amakhosi scouts are reportedly on the hunt for midfielders with different profiles, setting the stage for a possible midfield overhaul in the upcoming transfer window.
Targeting a Congolese Star
Amakhosi scouts were recently spotted at Loftus Versfeld attending a match between Union Maniema and Mamelodi Sundowns, where their attention was drawn to 25-year-old Congolese midfielder Agee Basiala Amongo. According to KickOff, Chiefs are keen on bringing the versatile star to Naturena.
Feisal Salum: The Tanzanian Goal Machine
Another midfield target making waves is Feisal Salum, the prolific Tanzanian playmaker from Azam FC. The Tanzanian has been instrumental in his club’s success in qualifying for the 2025 African Cup of Nations, impressing with his attacking prowess, scoring 19 goals from midfield last season and bagging nine more this season. Although Azam FC is reported to be offering him a new contract, The Citizen states that Chiefs have the financial resources to outbid them and entice him to South Africa.
Thabo Cele: A Familiar Face Returns?
Amakhosi could also be looking to bolster their midfield with the return of Thabo Cele. The combative midfielder, who has plied his trade in Russia and Poland since departing South Africa, is reportedly homesick and open to returning to the PSL. His experience playing in Europe and his South African pedigree make him a potentially valuable asset for Chiefs, with a reported transfer fee of around R10 million.
Up Next: Clash with Polokwane
With the transfer window looming, Chiefs will be hoping for a positive result in their upcoming clash against Polokwane City on December 8th. After a disappointing draw against Royal AM, Amakhosi will be looking to bounce back and climb the PSL table.
