Kieran Culkin Admits to Pranking Mark Ruffalo with Real Weed on Stage

Kieran Culkin, known for his role in the hit HBO show “Succession,” recently revealed a hilarious prank he pulled on his co-star Mark Ruffalo during a Broadway production back in 2000.

In a recent interview with The Guardian, Culkin recounted the story of how he swapped a prop joint with a real one backstage while performing in James Lapine’s play “The Moment When.”

“I thought this was a good prank. I’m stupid. Oh my God, I’m so sorry”

At the time, Culkin was just 17 years old and couldn’t resist the opportunity to pull a harmless prank. Weeks later, as the scent of marijuana wafted through the air, Culkin watched in disbelief as Ruffalo took a hit from the swapped joint and passed it to their co-star.

Culkin confessed to the prank at intermission, admitting to his co-stars, “I’m like, ‘I thought this was a good prank. I’m stupid. Oh my God, I’m so sorry,'”

Surprisingly, despite the unexpected turn of events, Ruffalo and the other actors seemed to enjoy the impromptu high.

Ruffalo recalled the experience, “[Between the two of us, we smoked a giant blunt on stage]. And I’m like, ‘Man, I am in it tonight. I feel it. I’m on fire. I’m feeling it… why’s that dude standing backstage laughing at me?’ And the kid who put the joint on the prop table is standing there, [laughing]. And I just went, ‘Oh s—’.”

Bonus Reviews!

Despite the unorthodox onstage situation, Ruffalo’s performance was praised. He said, “At the end of the play, I got the best reviews of my entire career.”

It seems Culkin’s prank turned out to be more of a laugh than a disastrous incident. Looking back, Culkin admitted, “I know, I know. But I was young. I’m 42 now. I know better. I’m not going to try to get anyone high on stage.”
