La Puntilla Beach in El Puerto de Santa María is set to host a dynamic summer of sport and charitable giving with the upcoming XVI Swim crossing and the 2nd Veteran & Rugby Beach Tournament, both scheduled for Saturday, July 5th. Organized in partnership with solidarity groups and OKEYMAS,these simultaneous events will unfold in a beautiful coastal setting,all benefiting the vicente Ferrer Foundation.

The event launch featured key figures including Sports Councilor José Ignacio González Nieto, Rafael Carmona from the Vicente Ferrer Foundation (representing Andalusia, Extremadura, Ceuta and Melilla), Antonio Leiva and Pablo Lara of OK + , Pablo Fernández and Francisco Mera representing the Atlético Portuense Rugby Club (CRAP), and VRAC player gabriel Vélez. Speakers emphasized the collaborative spirit and the potential for a truly inclusive and impactful experience.

This year’s Swim Crossing carries the theme “nothing wild,” encouraging participants to connect with nature through open-water swimming while challenging themselves personally. With distances of 3,000, 1,500, and 800 meters, the event welcomes swimmers of all skill levels. Registration is now open at www.brazadassolidarias.com. the competition is officially part of both the I Circuit of Cádiz de swimming and the Andalusian Open Water Circuit, supported by the andalusian Swimming Federation (FAN).

Beyond the athletic competition,a important portion of the proceeds will be dedicated to vital projects in Nepal. These funds will support educational opportunities and extensive assistance for vulnerable children, alongside programs designed to strengthen their families and communities, as explained by Carmona.

the following weekend, on Saturday, july 12th, the IX International Rugby Beach Tournament of El Puerto will take place, cementing its status as a beloved summer tradition. Expect fierce competition from teams like reigning champions William & Humbert – comprised of players from the National Rugby and Seven Selections – and Juromenha, a Portuguese team with a history of success in the tournament. Organizers invite locals and visitors alike to enjoy two weekends of high-caliber sports, community spirit, and social obligation at La Puntilla.

“Solidarity strokes” is a Vicente Ferrer Foundation initiative expanding the calendar of open-water swim events across Spain, with plans for over 25 events by 2025.
