Maggie Winters Brings Chicago Roots to New Comedy Special, “Marguerite”

Maggie Winters, a Chicago-based comedian and actress, is set to release her first filmed comedy special, “Marguerite,” on March 17, 2026, via YouTube. The special is deeply inspired by her experiences growing up on the city’s South Side, particularly in the Beverly neighborhood.

From Improv to Solo Show

Winters began her comedy journey with improv training at iO and Second City. She transitioned to online content creation during the pandemic, rapidly growing her following on TikTok and Instagram (@SaggieSplinters) to over 144,000 combined followers. She has since appeared on podcasts like Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers’ “Las Culturistas” and “Watch What Happens Live! with Andy Cohen.”

“Marguerite”: A Unique Blend of Comedy

“Marguerite” isn’t a traditional stand-up special, but rather a “solo show” – a format Winters became familiar with during her time in the improv and sketch scene. The special, developed over two years of performances in Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York City, and even at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, blends stand-up with video sketches and personal anecdotes. It’s described as part “Pee-wee’s Playhouse” and part public access television.

Family Collaboration

The production of “Marguerite” is a family affair. Winters’ brothers, Bart and Liam Winters, directed the special. Bart and Liam are also members of the Chicago-based band Melkbelly, and Liam has experience as a set decorator for local film and television productions. The siblings collaborated on the script, with Bart and Liam providing honest feedback on Winters’ material.

Chicago at the Heart of the Show

Despite performing in major comedy hubs like Los Angeles and New York, Winters remains committed to Chicago, citing the importance of staying close to her family. “Marguerite” reflects this connection, with a significant portion of the show focusing on her upbringing in Beverly, including the neighborhood’s strong Irish-American culture and traditions. The special’s premiere date, March 17th, coincides with St. Patrick’s Day and the South Side Irish Parade, a 25-year tradition for the Winters family.

A Community Celebration

The Winters family’s St. Patrick’s Day party, featured in the special, is a lively event complete with morning mass, a large gathering of friends and family, and, notably, a port-a-potty in the garage. The party served as a backdrop for celebrating the upcoming release of “Marguerite,” with guests eagerly anticipating Winters’ success.
