Traffic Disrupted on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Skyway Due to Accidents
Traffic flow on the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Skyway (MBZ Skyway), formerly known as the Jakarta-Cikampek Elevated Toll Road, was significantly impacted on Saturday, March 14, 2026, due to a series of accidents. The disruptions primarily affected traffic heading towards Cikampek.
Accident Details and Traffic Conditions
According to a report from PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol via their X account, a series of accidents occurred between KM 35 (Cibatu) and KM 37+200 (Central Cikarang) in the direction of Cikampek. Motorists were advised to utilize lane 1/left to navigate the affected area.
Traffic flow on the Karawang, Cikarang to Cikunir section remained smooth. However, congestion was also reported on the Jakarta Cikampek toll road in the West Karawang section towards Cikampek due to a truck experiencing wheel problems in the left lane, specifically between KM 45 and KM 49.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Skyway Overview
The Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Skyway is a 36.4-kilometer-long elevated toll road extending from Cikunir, Bekasi, to Karawang in West Java, Indonesia. It is operated by PT Jasamarga Jalanlayang Cikampek, a subsidiary of PT Jasa Marga Tbk and PT Nusantara Infrastructure Tbk. The Skyway is the longest flyover in Indonesia and the longest elevated double-decker expressway in Southeast Asia.
PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol manages the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road, which is now integrated with the MBZ Flyover. This integration aims to reduce travel times and alleviate congestion, with potential time savings of over 60% in normal traffic conditions when traveling to Purwakarta.
The MBZ Skyway, with a length of 38 km, provides additional lanes and shoulders to improve traffic capacity.
