Meghan Markle Returns to Acting After Eight-Year hiatus
Meghan Markle will return to acting after eight years away from the screen.
According to variety, the Duchess of Sussex will make a cameo as herself in Close Personal Friends, an Amazon MGM Studios production starring Lily Collins, Brie Larson, Jack Quaid, and Henry Golding.
The Sun cited a source close to the project who described this moment as “huge” for Markle and stated that it “marks her return to what she really loves to do.”
“She received an avalanche of offers, but this one seemed like the right one,” the source said. “ItS her way of slowly coming back and evaluating how it feels to be on set again. Everyone on the production is enthusiastic and keeps their involvement a secret.”
According to the same source, Prince Harry “supports her and only wants her to do what makes her happy.”
People magazine reported that Markle was already on set to record her role. “Her participation is small. She seemed very relaxed and happy. She greeted everyone, she was very friendly and simple,” a source told the outlet.

This new project represents Markle’s first acting role since her departure from the series Suits in November 2017, where she played paralegal Rachel Zane. She participated in the production from its beginning and left the cast after becoming engaged to Prince Harry that same year.
