Local Gymnasts Showcase Talent at Upper Arlington Meet

UPPER ARLINGTON – Gymnastics competitions in the Central and Southwest Districts continue to highlight the impressive talent emerging from area schools and autonomous training programs. Recent performances at Upper Arlington high School showcased promising athletes and strong team showings.

Hargrave Claims All-Around Title

Greeneview junior Katrina Hargrave continued her triumphant season, winning the All-Around title at the competition held on Wednesday evening.Hargrave achieved a combined score of 32.75, demonstrating consistent skill across all events.She secured a second-place finish on the floor exercise with a score of 8.8, and also placed fifth on uneven bars (7.8), seventh on balance beam (8.15), and eighth on vault (8.0).

Team Standings

Upper Arlington took first place in the team standings with a total score of 132.05. Hilliard Darby followed closely in second place with 121.5 points, while hilliard Davidson secured third with a score of 120.5. Miami Trace finished fourth, achieving a team score of 119.2, and Hilliard Bradley rounded out the top five with 104.90 points.

keaton and Hayes Shine in All-Around Competition

Miami Trace gymnast Rhiley Keaton delivered a strong individual performance, earning second place on vault with a score of 8.15 and eighth place on floor exercise with a score of 8.45. She finished fifth in the All-Around competition with a total score of 31.2. Washington gymnast Caitlyn Hayes narrowly edged out Keaton for fourth place in the All-Around, posting a score of 31.3. Legacy Christian’s Sasha Garringer also demonstrated skill, finishing seventh overall with a score of 30.95.

Local Program strength Despite Challenges

The success of these athletes underscores the strength of the local gymnastics community. Despite limited regional school sponsorships and a lack of formal league recognition, athletes continue to excel in competitions across the Central and Southwest Districts.

“The fact that our local girls are competitive and are winning between the Central and Southwest Districts is a testament to their level of talent,” said head coach Susan Holloway.

Looking Ahead

The gymnasts will next compete in a 16-team invitational in Cincinnati on Saturday, continuing to showcase the region’s gymnastics prowess.
