Naked Man Steals Ambulance, Leads Police on 90 mph Chase with Patient Inside

A Wisconsin man is facing charges after allegedly stealing an ambulance with a patient inside and leading police on a high-speed chase, reaching speeds over 90 mph. The suspect, identified as Benjamin L. Feltz, 37, of Stevens Point, was found naked when apprehended after the ambulance became stuck in a muddy cornfield.

Details of the Incident

According to criminal complaints filed in Wood County Circuit Court, the incident began Tuesday when Feltz allegedly entered the ambulance as two emergency medical services workers were attending to a patient. The paramedics reported hearing a door close and discovering a naked man in the driver’s seat. Despite their attempts to stop him, Feltz drove off with the patient still inside.

The patient, suffering from kidney disease, reportedly pleaded with Feltz, screaming, “You (expletive), I’m dying from kidney disease,” fearing for her life during the ordeal as reported by Channel 3000.

The Chase and Arrest

Law enforcement officers initiated a pursuit that lasted approximately 18.29 miles. The chase culminated when Feltz drove the ambulance into a muddy cornfield, becoming stuck. WISN News reports that Feltz was then taken into custody.

Police footage shows Feltz exiting the ambulance naked as officers with drawn weapons ordered him to surrender. He appeared to be intoxicated and struggled to maintain his balance during the arrest.

Charges and Legal Proceedings

Feltz is charged with four felonies and six misdemeanors, including first-degree recklessly endangering safety, operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, attempting to flee or elude an officer, and operating while under the influence (third offense) according to Fox 6 Now. He is currently being held on a $100,000 cash bond.

A judge has ordered Feltz to undergo a competency evaluation to assess his mental state as reported by Fox 6 Now.

Court records indicate this is not Feltz’s first encounter with the law regarding intoxicated driving. He has two prior convictions for Operating While Intoxicated.

Authorities also stated that Feltz confessed to consuming approximately half a bottle of chemical cleaner and having marijuana in his system.
