DT Kayden McDonald Wasn’t Picked on Thursday but Will Be Back at the Draft on Friday
Defensive tackle Kayden McDonald experienced the disappointment of going unpicked on the first night of the 2026 NFL Draft but has committed to returning for Friday’s proceedings in hopes of hearing his name called early in the second round.
McDonald was among the prospects who accepted an invitation to attend the draft in Pittsburgh on Thursday night. After watching peers get selected while his own name went uncalled, he decided to extend his stay. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, McDonald will return for the second night of the draft with the goal of being selected early in Round 2.
The Ohio State defensive tackle had a productive 2025 season, recording 65 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and three sacks for the Buckeyes. His performance earned him recognition as a dominant interior run stuffer, with highlights showing his ability to collapse pockets and disrupt offensive schemes.
While there is no current update on fellow undrafted prospect Colton Hood’s plans for Friday night, McDonald’s decision to remain in Pittsburgh reflects his continued optimism about his NFL prospects as the draft continues into its second day.
