Mars Bleu 2026: Raising Awareness for Colorectal Cancer Screening in Brittany

As part of Mars Bleu, a month dedicated to raising awareness and preventing colorectal cancer, the Baie d’Armor Territorial Professional Health Community (CPTS) is organizing information days for the public in Plérin, Côtes-d’Armor, France, on Monday, March 2nd and Tuesday, March 3rd, 2026. The events aim to improve understanding of colorectal cancer screening.

Understanding Colorectal Cancer

Colorectal cancer affects more than 47,000 people annually in France and causes approximately 17,000 deaths. Nearly 95% of colorectal cancers are diagnosed after the age of 50.

Côlon Tour: An Interactive Learning Experience

The CPTS Baie d’Armor, in partnership with the Hôpital Privé des Côtes d’Armor and other organizations, is hosting the “Côlon Tour” – a large inflatable colon – to educate the public about the disease and the importance of early detection. The event will take place on March 2nd, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Hôpital Privé des Côtes d’Armor.

Mars Bleu Initiatives in the Region

Mars Bleu encompasses a range of activities aimed at promoting colorectal cancer screening. The Hôpital Privé des Côtes d’Armor (HPCA) was a partner in the “Marche Bleue” (Blue Walk) on March 15th, 2025, and will likely continue its support for similar events.

Importance of Screening

Early detection is crucial for successful colorectal cancer treatment. Screening can identify precancerous polyps, which can be removed before they develop into cancer. Regular screening is recommended for individuals over 45, or earlier if there is a family history of the disease.
