Good News for Homebuyers: Small Debts No Longer a Barrier

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – There’s good news for 111,000 low-income people and those hoping to get a home loan (KPR).They’ve been struggling to buy a home because of small debts under IDR 1 million.

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa and Housing Minister Maruarar Sirait agreed to help clear these small debts.These debts are currently blocking people in the OJK’s Financial Information services System (SLIK).

This plan came about during a meeting at the Housing Minister’s office in Jakarta on Tuesday, October 14, 2025. They discussed ways to support housing and speed up the public housing program.

Purbaya explained that the OJK SLIK (formerly known as BI Checking) is the biggest problem for people wanting to buy homes. Many people qualify for a loan, but can’t get approved because of these small debts.

“I’ve asked BP Tapera to gather data on potential KPR borrowers who are blocked by loans up to IDR 1 million. We can then work to repay those loans,” Purbaya said to Kompas.com.
