Exciting Innovation at Trenčín’s Pavel Demitra Winter Stadium
Trenčín, a Slovakian city renowned for its rich cultural tapestry and thriving sports scene, is making significant strides in enhancing its infrastructure. The ongoing reconstruction of the Pavel Demitra Winter Stadium is progressing beautifully, with a final phase set to elevate its capabilities even further. The city council has committed an additional €1.2 million from its reserve fund, bringing the total budget for this stage to nearly €8.5 million.
This ambitious project aims to address several key areas, including extensive renovations, the installation of state-of-the-art air conditioning for dressing rooms, and the implementation of sophisticated ventilation systems. These enhancements will ensure the stadium is equipped to comfortably host major international sporting events, matches, and cultural gatherings.
"These works will complement the originally planned investment so that our stadium also comfortably suits during major international sports tournaments, matches, but also cultural events," stated the Trenčín self-government.
Currently, the focus is on the stadium’s exterior. New sandwich panels are being installed on the northern and western sides, while the eastern facade is undergoing the dismantling of its original cladding to make way for a new thermal insulation system.
The contractor is also busy with installing steel frameworks for new windows and wiring for air conditioning and ventilation systems within the stadium.
Looking towards A Greener Future
A key emphasis of the final phase is on improving energy efficiency and enhancing the overall structure of the stadium. This modernization effort will extend the stadium’s lifespan and give it a fresh, modern aesthetic. The replacement of facade sheathing and peripheral filling structures is a key part of this initiative. According to city management, "It is a replacement of cladding of its facades, replacement of peripheral filling structures with new aluminum, installation of shading technology, or connecting air conditioning to the heating system. A new system of forced ventilation is also implemented using air-conditioning units with heat recovery."
The reconstruction work on the Pavel Demitra Ice Rink is scheduled for completion by the end of May 2025. The stadium will remain open to the public throughout the construction phase. Adifex, the company that won the tender for this project, is leading the overall modernization efforts.
The End Result: A Center Stage for the City of Trenčín
This stadium reconstruction is more than just an upgrade; it’s a testament to Trenčín’s commitment to providing a world-class experience for visitors and residents alike.
