Petr Dopita was born on December 5, 1947 in Olomouc, where he sang in a children’s choir. After graduation he took the singing lessons in Brno near Bernard Kočar. The professional singing career was opened as a soloist of the Gustav Brom orchestra.

He collaborated with groups Kučerovci, Syncopy 61 and Helena Blehárová. After a five -year engagement at the Pozanan Theater in Poland and after the founding of the Brno folk cabaret Brňafka (1985–1992), he joined the South Bohemian Theater in České Budějovice in 1993.
There he played many roles, from opera to musicals. Among the best known are Colline in Puccini’s Bohemian or Prince Gremin in Tchaikovsky Evžen Onegin.
He also moved in the Prague musical world. In the musical Dracula took the role of Count Dracula, also performed in the works of Joan of Arc, Jesus Christ Superstar, Snow Queen, Jekyll & Hyde, Secrets, Robin Hood, Marie Antoinette, Ghost of London and others.
Dopita was also a virtuoso in a play on a Canadian saw. He traveled with her Europe, Japan and the United States. He took part in the International Sail International Festival in Santa Cruz, California, and won in 1998 and 2000. He won at the first World Championship in the saw, which took place on the farm Bolek Polívka together with his student Wojciech Suchan from Poland.
