Pixel Watch and Phone Issues Reported After March 2026 Update
Google Pixel phone and Pixel Watch users are reporting a range of issues following the March 2026 software update, impacting lock screen functionality on phones and step/calorie tracking accuracy on the Pixel Watch. Google is aware of the problems and is actively addressing them.
Pixel Phone Lock Screen Freezing
Several Pixel phone users have reported their lock screens freezing after installing the March 2026 update. Although the devices remain functional – haptic feedback is still registered – the display becomes unresponsive, remaining stuck in always-on mode. A forced restart is currently the only workaround.
One user described the issue as feeling haptic feedback when attempting to interact with the screen, but with no visual response. Reddit users have confirmed experiencing similar problems.
Some users have found that updating Google Play system updates to the latest version may resolve the issue, particularly if Google service versions are outdated.
Pixel Watch Step and Calorie Tracking Inaccuracies
Pixel Watch owners are experiencing inaccuracies in step and calorie tracking following the March 2026 update. The watch is overcounting steps and inflating calorie burn estimates, particularly during activities like running and aerobics. Walking workouts appear to be less affected.
Users report that while individual workout measurements may be correct, the cumulative data displayed in the Fitbit app is significantly off. For example, two walks accurately recording 1,500 and 3,000 steps respectively may result in the app displaying a total of nearly 10,000 steps. Android Authority first reported on this issue.
Owners of LTE versions of the Pixel Watch series who have not yet received the March 2026 update are, as of now, unaffected by this bug.
Ongoing Issues and Google’s Response
While bugs are not uncommon with software updates, these issues appear to be more widespread than usual. Google has acknowledged the Pixel Watch step-tracking bug and is working on a fix. Android Central details the Fitbit integration problems.
Pixel Watch 3 Battery Life and Speaker Issues
Recent user feedback indicates that the Pixel Watch 3, even with the always-on display enabled, struggles to achieve more than two days of battery life, requiring daily charging. Reddit reviews also highlight that the Pixel Watch 3 lacks the ability to play music directly through its built-in speaker, a feature found in competing Samsung watches.
Google has not yet commented on the battery life or speaker issues.
