A Raw Return to the Demo Aesthetic

The track avoids the sterile, high-gloss production typical of modern rock, opting instead for the grit of a basement session.

Josh Homme describes the recording process as a deliberate push for spontaneity. “We made it the way you’d make a demo,” Homme said. “No click track, mistakes left in. It speeds up, it slows down, the claps aren’t great, but they’re not bad, and a bad clap adds this human thing you can’t fake.” By eschewing technical perfection, the band aimed to capture a specific, jagged mood—one Homme characterizes as “funny because it hurts and it hurts because it’s funny.” He likens the final result to “hitting your funny bone.”

The Absurdist Visual Narrative

The track arrives with a music video directed by Tony Wolski and Christopher Gruse. In the visual, Homme is depicted fleeing a strange assembly of neighbors—a group that includes a firefighter, a Juggalo, and his own bandmates.

International Stages and Domestic Tours

Currently, the band is performing overseas alongside System of a Down. Once those international dates conclude, the focus shifts to North America. Starting in September, Queens of the Stone Age will join the Foo Fighters for a series of opening dates across the U.S. and Canada, marking a return to large-scale touring.

  • Production Style: The band utilized a “demo” aesthetic, explicitly omitting click tracks to maintain natural tempo fluctuations.
  • Directing Duo: The music video was a collaborative effort between directors Tony Wolski and Christopher Gruse.
