Saros Showcases PlayStation 5’s DualSense Capabilities Ahead of Launch
Housemarque’s upcoming sci-fi roguelike Saros is set to launch on April 30, 2026, and has been positioned as a technical showcase for the PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller. According to creative director Gregory Louden, the game leverages the controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers to deepen immersion, building on the foundation laid by their previous title, Returnal. The PS5 Pro version further enhances the experience with upgraded PSSR upscaling and higher base render resolution, whereas maintaining a rock-solid 60fps performance on standard PS5 hardware.
DualSense Integration Drives Immersion
Saros makes extensive use of the DualSense’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, which Louden confirmed are central to the game’s design philosophy. “Our goal with Saros has been to push the hardware and be a showcase for PlayStation 5,” Louden stated in a recent interview. The controller’s nuanced vibrations respond to in-game actions such as weapon fire, environmental interactions, and movement, providing tactile feedback that complements the visual and audio elements. This approach mirrors the implementation in Returnal, which was widely praised for its innovative use of the DualSense features.
PS5 Pro Enhancements Deliver Visual Fidelity
For players on PS5 Pro, Saros includes updated PSSR (PlayStation Super Resolution) support using the latest version of the upscaler released in March 2026. Louden explained that this upgrade provides an image quality nearly indistinguishable from native 4K. The PS5 Pro version likewise features an increased base render resolution, delivering a clearer image at 60fps during gameplay. Dynamic resolution scaling ensures stable performance even during intense combat sequences. While the standard PS5 version maintains consistent 60fps performance, the PS5 Pro pushes graphical fidelity further without compromising frame rate.
Cinematic Moments Prioritize Visual Quality
Louden noted that the only instances where Saros drops to 30fps are during key story cinematics. These scenes prioritize visual quality over frame rate, rendering characters, lighting, and post-processing at peak resolution. On PS5 Pro, these cinematics benefit from the higher resolution capabilities, offering a more detailed presentation during narrative moments.

Audio and Performance Remain Strong on Standard PS5
Despite the advancements on PS5 Pro, Louden emphasized that the standard PS5 version of Saros still delivers impressive audio, visuals, and overall performance. The game is designed to take full advantage of the PS5’s hardware capabilities across all supported models, ensuring a high-quality experience regardless of whether players are using the standard or Pro console.
Launch and Availability
Saros is scheduled to launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 on April 30, 2026. As a third-person sci-fi roguelike developed by Housemarque, the studio behind Returnal, the game continues the developer’s focus on tight gameplay mechanics and technical innovation. Pre-orders and further details are available through official PlayStation channels.
