Fleet Technician
Description
POSITION OVERVIEW: To provide timely, quality, and cost-effective repair and maintenance for a vehicle fleet including tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment requiring preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, modifications, and repairs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Repairs, modifies, and performs preventative maintenance inspections; troubleshoots vehicle fleet including tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment.
- Performs advanced diagnostics to identify the source of trouble and performs repairs and/or replaces or rebuilds all components and systems.
- Makes necessary adjustments to equipment for safe and efficient operation and prepares required safety documentation.
- Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced technicians.
- Ensures proper and accurate documentation of all maintenance performed, completing reports in writing and electronically.
- Performs safety inspections of equipment and documents the work.
- Performs paint and body work on vehicles,as required.
- Complies with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures.
- Performs other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma (or GED), preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience performing vehicle maintenance.
- A heavy-duty vehicle maintenance certificate obtained from an accredited vehicle maintenance vocational/trade school may substitute for one year of vehicle maintenance experience.
- A Master ASE certification may substitute an additional two years’ vehicle maintenance experience.
- Demonstrated competency in the repair and maintenance of Brakes, Electrical, PMI, Powertrain, and Trailing Equipment required.
- Medium/Heavy Truck Master ASE Certification and Class A CDL preferred.
- Must possess proficient computer skills including maintenance programs and diagnostic systems.
- Must possess in-depth knowledge of gas and diesel engines and on-board computers.
- Experience using precision measurement instruments, oxygen/acetylene equipment, and lifting devices (bottle, floor, wheel, or transmission jacks, floor cranes, etc.).
- Able to frequently lift components weighing approximately 110 pounds with appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another person.
- Must possess necessary tools to perform assigned tasks.
