Storm Darragh: 4,000 Still Without Power as ESB Works to Restore Supplies
Storm Darragh left a lasting impact on Ireland, causing widespread power outages across the country. While progress has been made in restoring electricity supply, nearly 4,000 customers remain without power as of today.
Key Areas Still Affected
The ESB Networks has identified the hardest-hit areas as Carrick-on-Shannon in County Leitrim, Tullamore in County Offaly, Arklow in County Wicklow, and parts of County Cavan.
Progress and Estimated Restoration Time
On the brighter side, the number of affected customers has significantly dropped from 8,000 yesterday. The ESB expects this trend to continue throughout the week, with the vast majority of customers regaining power by Friday. However, some isolated pockets may experience delays.
“The timeline remains the same, in that the vast majority of customers will have their power back by Friday,” said an ESB spokesperson. “There will be pockets out until Friday. We know how tough it is to be without power for this long and we are putting all available resources in place to resolve this.”
Extensive Repair Efforts
Over 3,000 technicians are diligently working across the country to fix the damages and restore power lines. This massive restoration effort underscores the severity of the storm’s impact.
Safety First
The ESB Networks urges the public to exercise extreme caution and prioritize safety. Anyone encountering a fallen wire should assume it is live and avoid any contact. Instead, report it immediately to the ESB.
