BSTI St.Vith Students Advance to VAL Robot Challenge European Final
Students from the Bischöfliche Schule & Technisches Institut (BSTI) St.Vith in Belgium have achieved a significant milestone in the international “VAL Robot Challenge,” organized by Swiss industrial robotics company Stäubli Robotics. Nine students from the Electromechanics (EM) and Electrical Engineering (ET) departments have qualified for the European final, demonstrating their skills in robotics, and programming.
The VAL Robot Challenge: Fostering Robotics Education
The VAL Robot Challenge aims to introduce young people to the world of robotics and programming without requiring prior knowledge. Stäubli Robotics organizes the competition to highlight the exciting job opportunities available in the field of robotics. The challenge progresses through several phases: regional, national, and an international final.
BSTI St.Vith’s Journey to the Final
The BSTI St.Vith students participated in the Benelux final held at Stäubli in Kortrijk. According to a Facebook post by the school, the students – Louis Colles, Sebastian Faymonville, and Robin Kohnen – successfully completed a robot maintenance challenge involving simulated malfunctions and technical questions. The Benelux final took place on February 10, 2026. As reported by Grenzecho.net, this achievement secured their place in the international final.
What Awaits in the European Final?
The European final will be held in Cluses, Haute-Savoie, France, from March 16-20, 2026. The VAL Robot Challenge website details that participants are responsible for their own travel to the international final, but all other accommodations, activities, and meals will be provided.
