TNWK spokesman Nandri Yulianto said the death of the elephant, named Dona, was a huge loss for Sumatran elephant conservation activists in Way Kambas.

“Dona was part of Sumatran elephant conservation efforts,” he told Kompas.com on Tuesday.

dona died on Nov. 16 at an elephant response unit (ERU) in Bungur. She had been sick and her condition started to deteriorate on Nov. 6.
