Driving this impressive growth is robust demand from key regional markets, including Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines, and Myanmar.
Several factors contribute to Thailand’s dairy export success:
- Manufacturing efficiency
- Competitive pricing
- Zero import tariffs under the ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement (ATIGA)
According to Deputy Minister of Commerce Suchart Chomklin, Thailand’s dairy exports are particularly strong in yogurt, UHT milk, buttermilk, cream, and soy milk mixed with dairy.
Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) between ASEAN and major partners, including mainland China, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, and Hong Kong, have further boosted Thai dairy exports by eliminating tariffs. This opens up exciting opportunities beyond Southeast Asia.
Thailand is actively pursuing new FTAs with South Korea and ASEAN-Canada, aiming to finalize negotiations by 2025. These agreements will unlock additional export channels and strengthen Thailand’s position in the global dairy trade.
Furthermore, Thailand is exploring potential agreements with countries in Africa and South America to reduce trade barriers and diversify export markets.
Thai exporters are encouraged to leverage the benefits of FTAs and stay ahead of evolving consumer trends to maintain global competitiveness.
Thailand’s commitment to expanding market access and strengthening trade partnerships positions the nation as a leading player in the global dairy industry.
Stay tuned for further developments in Thailand’s dairy export journey!
