The Sitges Festival awards the Argentine film ‘When Evil Stalks’ as best film

The Argentine film ‘When evil stalks’, by the director Demián Rugnahas been crowned best film in the Official Fantastic Section of the 56th Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia in a very diverse list of winners, the jury announced this Saturday at a press conference.

‘When Evil Stalks’, starring Ezequiel Agustín Rodríguez y Demián Salomóntells how two brothers discover a man infected by evil forces and who is about to give birth to a demon.

The jury, made up of Ana Torrent, Kim Newman, Jérôme Paillard, Alexandra Heller-Nicholas and David C.Fein, has awarded a special prize ‘ex aequo’ to the British film ‘Stopmotion’, by Robert Morgan, for its creative exploitation of the dark of creativity, and the French ‘Vermin: The Plague’ for being “a powerful and political monster movie.”

The director Baloji has been awarded as best director for ‘Omen’, and in the acting category the awards have gone to Kate Lyn Sheil as best actress for ‘The Seeding’ — with a special mention for Zafreen Zairizal for his role in ‘Tiger Stripes’– and Karim Leklou as best actor for ‘Vincent Must Die’.

The jury has recognized ‘Late Night with the Devil’, from the Cairnes brothers, with the award for best screenplay; to ‘La Morsure’ with the best photography; ‘Club Zero’ with the best music, and ‘The Animal Kingdom’ with the best visual effects.
