Son Arrested in Barcelona in Connection with Father’s Death in Milan

Barcelona, Spain – A man has been arrested in Barcelona, Spain, in connection with the death of his father, Ukrainian businessman Alexander Adarich, in Milan, Italy. The arrest, made by the Mossos d’Esquadra (Catalan police) on February 27th, was based on a European arrest warrant issued by Italian authorities, according to reports from ARA.

Initial Investigation and Allegations

Alexander Adarich, 54, was found dead under the windows of an apartment in Milan on January 23rd. Initial investigations by Italian police suggested the death may have been a suicide, but the focus shifted to his 34-year-ancient son following inconsistencies in his statements and evidence gathered at the scene. Italian authorities believe the son allegedly attempted to coerce his father into transferring €250,000 in cryptocurrency.

The Alleged Scheme

According to investigators, the son conspired with four individuals to lure his father to Italy under the guise of a business meeting. The son initially claimed that both he and his father were kidnapped after meeting with businessmen in Milan, and that he was released to collect a ransom before returning to Catalonia to report the alleged kidnapping to the Mossos d’Esquadra. However, this account was contradicted by evidence.

Evidence Contradicts Son’s Account

Evidence gathered by Italian police indicates the son was the only person with his father at the time of the fall. Investigators found traces of violence on Adarich’s body, including bruises and abrasions on his neck and wrists, suggesting a struggle. Witnesses likewise reported seeing a man resembling the son leaving the building shortly after the fall and inquiring about his father’s condition with the concierge. ARA reports that the son did not attempt to help his father after the fall, instead returning directly to Catalonia.

Ongoing Investigation

The Italian police’s primary hypothesis is that the son pushed his father from the window after the other individuals involved had left the apartment. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected to emerge as the case progresses. Instagram reports that marks consistent with restraints were found on the victim’s arms.
