Unrivaled Basketball League Expands Roster, Aims for Caitlin Clark

The burgeoning Unrivaled women’s basketball league just announced significant growth, adding six more players to its inaugural season roster and setting its sights on securing WNBA phenom Caitlin Clark.

36 Players, Not 30: Unrivaled Surpasses Financial Projections

Initially announced with 30 players, the league now boasts 36 talented athletes – six teams of six – for its first season. This expansion comes as a result of exceeding financial projections, enabling co-founders Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart to fulfill their ambition of creating more opportunities for women’s basketball players.

“We’re able to do this because we outperformed our financial projections, and so now we get to do something that we wanted to do in the future, which is give more people spots in Unrivaled,” Collier said in a social media video.

Aliyah Boston Joins Unrivaled’s Star-Studded Lineup

Indiana Fever center Aliyah Boston became the league’s 30th signing, solidifying an already impressive roster. Other notable names include Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese, Seattle Storm guard Jewell Loyd, and Dallas Wings guard Arike Ogunbowale. Boston, the 2023 WNBA Rookie of the Year, brings a wealth of experience and talent to the team.

Unrivaled: An Attractive Alternative for WNBA Players

Launched by Collier and Stewart, Unrivaled provides players with an attractive alternative to playing overseas during the WNBA offseason. The eight-week season offers players the chance to compete at a high level while also receiving equity in the league.

The Caitlin Clark Pursuit

With an aggressive strategy, Unrivaled intends to lure WNBA star Caitlin Clark. President Alex Bazzell has confirmed a substantial offer of over $1 million per season is on the table. According to Sportico, Unrivaled intends to be patient, knowing they have a spot ready for the Iowa star when she’s ready to commit.
