Stabilus SE Expands Industrial Automation Business with Focus on Robotics
Koblenz, Germany – February 26, 2026 – Stabilus SE, a leading global supplier of motion control solutions, is strategically expanding its presence in the industrial automation sector, with a particular emphasis on the rapidly growing robotics market. The company is consolidating its industrial automation expertise under the latest umbrella brand, Stabilus4Automation, to offer integrated solutions for automated production processes.
Synergies and a Unique Portfolio
Stabilus leverages the combined technological understand-how of its brands – Stabilus, ACE, Destaco, Fabreeka, and Hahn Gasfedern – to provide a comprehensive portfolio for automation technology. This includes solutions for damping, speed control, and vibration isolation, catering to both small and large-scale production runs. A key differentiator is the company’s focus on tailor-made, customer-specific solutions designed to meet precise application and performance requirements.
Growth in Industrial Automation and Robotics
“Industrial automation is an important growth area for Stabilus,” stated Dr. Michael Büchsner, CEO of Stabilus SE. “With Stabilus4Automation, we are leveraging synergies within the group to further develop our technology portfolio and offer integrated solutions for demanding automation applications, including robotics.”
Market studies indicate a global addressable market of approximately €3 billion for finish-of-arm tooling, gripping systems, and robotic tooling solutions. This market is projected to continue its double-digit growth trajectory, driven by increasing automation across industries, logistics, and manufacturing. Stabilus aims to generate €500 million in revenue from new, high-margin innovation products over the long term, with the Automation segment, including robotics, playing a significant role in achieving this goal.
Innovation and Efficiency Through In-House Implementation
Stabilus plans to implement its developed automation solutions within its own production facilities to optimize manufacturing processes, enhance efficiency, and gather practical insights for further product development. This approach allows the company to refine its offerings based on real-world application and feedback.
Expanding into Robotics Applications
Stabilus’ existing product range is increasingly being utilized in industrial robotics applications, particularly for components requiring controlled movement, damping, and vibration reduction. The company is also exploring opportunities in the research domain of humanoid robots, building upon its core competencies and adapting them to future-oriented applications.
Collaborative Solutions and End-of-Arm Tooling
Jürgen Roland, Head of the Industrial Components business unit, highlighted the company’s integrated approach: “We view industrial automation as an integrated system of required movements – from the gripper and vibration isolation to drive solutions. In the field of cobots and robots with small payloads, we already offer powerful end-of-arm tools and advanced solutions. We are already working with more than 100 partners worldwide in the field of robotics.” He also noted a pilot project involving a 360-degree drive solution for robot joints.
A collaborative handling solution developed by Destaco and ACE exemplifies this integrated approach. Combining automation expertise with damping technology, the companies created a powerful end-of-arm tool (EOAT) used as a gripping tool in modern production environments. Integrating ACE’s MC series miniature shock absorbers into the EOAT design enhances the handling of packages with varying sizes and weights, protects equipment, and improves overall handling efficiency.
Driven by Industry Trends
The growth in industrial automation and robotics is fueled by factors such as labor shortages, increasing quality requirements, and the need for more efficient manufacturing processes. These trends present additional growth opportunities for Stabilus in industrial end markets with long-term investment potential.
