APEX Awards Recognise Excellence in Air Travel

It is time for awards in the air transport sector. This year, the Airline passenger Experience Association (APEX), the international network uniting leading companies, suppliers, and businesses connected to aviation, has assigned its Area prizes, a benchmark for the quality of onboard services.

The methodology behind the APEX awards is particularly significant: the awards are based on direct passenger feedback collected through a partnership with Tripit of Dencur, a popular travel app. Over one million flights were evaluated by customers of nearly 600 airlines on a five-star scale, with self-reliant certification by a professional review company.

“Through Apex World Class,” explained Joe Leader, CEO of APEX, “We celebrate the considerable commitment of these airlines and lounges that redefine excellence in every aspect of the journey, going beyond five-star standards. Achieving this higher standard reflects a commitment not only to extraordinary service and comfort but also to safety, sustainability, and customer satisfaction-values that resonate with travelers.”

The criteria evaluated include seat comfort, cabin service quality, onboard entertainment options, the food and beverage offerings, the availability of VIP lounges at airports, and Wi-Fi connectivity.

The Categories of Prizes

APEX awards are divided into different sections.Five Star and Four Star certifications distinguish companies in four types: global, major, regional, and low cost. Added to these is the title of Apex World Class, which recognizes the most exemplary companies for safety, sustainability, inclusiveness, and well-being.

Another category is represented by the APEX Best Awards, which reward the best companies on a global and regional scale (Africa, Asia, Europe, North and South America, middle East, Pacific). the APEX/IFSA Awards focus on innovation in the past year, with specific awards for connectivity, entertainment, cabins, food, and service.

The Apex World Class award requires meeting international standards for safety, wellness, sustainability, service, and inclusiveness.
