amazon Vice President of Device Software & Services, Robert Williams, plans to retire at the end of the year, he announced in a LinkedIn post on Friday (Oct. 3).

Williams made the declaration after 12 years with Amazon, and just days after the company revealed its next generation of devices, including Echo, Fire TV, and Ring. These new devices are specifically designed for AI-powered Alexa.

He stated in his post that he made the decision to retire at the end of 2025 earlier this year. he has been working closely with Amazon Senior Vice President of Devices and Services, Dave Limp, to ensure a smooth transition. Williams expressed gratitude for the chance to work alongside talented colleagues and contribute to Amazon’s innovation.

Prior to Amazon, Williams held leadership positions at several other tech companies, including Apple and Microsoft. He’s known for his expertise in software advancement and his ability to build high-performing teams. His departure marks a meaningful change for Amazon’s device division as it continues to focus on expanding its presence in the smart home and entertainment markets.
