Supreme Court Investigates Potential Leak of Confidential Confession
The spanish Supreme Court believes former Attorney General José Manuel Maza, or someone directly connected to him, leaked the confession of Sergio del Molino, the partner of Madrid regional president Isabel Díaz Ayuso. This revelation stems from the ongoing “Díaz Ayuso case,” a legal battle concerning alleged conflicts of interest and improper enrichment.
The court’s suspicions arose during the investigation into how details of Del Molino’s confidential statement to prosecutors became public. Del Molino testified regarding potential irregularities in contracts awarded during the COVID-19 pandemic. The leaked confession reportedly contained damaging information for Ayuso and her administration.
Investigators focused on access logs and internal communications within the Attorney General’s office at the time the confession was taken. They discovered a pattern suggesting someone with high-level access deliberately shared the information. Maza, who died in 2020,is now the central figure in this leak investigation, though the court acknowledges the possibility that an associate acted on his behalf.
The court hasn’t publicly detailed the specific evidence linking Maza or his associates to the leak. However, sources indicate the investigation centers on a limited number of individuals who had both access to the confession and a potential motive for its dissemination. The timing of the leak, coinciding with heightened political tensions, is also a key factor.
This advancement adds another layer of complexity to the “Díaz Ayuso case.” Ayuso has consistently denied any wrongdoing, and her supporters claim the investigation is politically motivated. The leak investigation, however, raises serious questions about the integrity of the legal process and the potential for political interference.
The supreme Court continues its investigation, seeking to identify the individual(s) responsible for the leak and determine their motives.Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
