Seth Rollins Stripped of WWE Title, New Opponent for CM Punk Confirmed

The wrestler facing CM Punk for the vacant WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Saturday Night’s Main event on November 1 has now been confirmed.

At the start of tonight’s WWE Raw, Adam Pearce announced that Seth Rollins had been stripped of the World heavyweight Title because he had “major surgery.”

With his win in a #1 contender’s match, Finn Balor will now challenge CM Punk for the championship.

Rollins had been champion as winning the title from Brock lesnar at SummerSlam in August. He had held the title for just over two months.

The news of Rollins’ surgery and title vacancy came as a surprise to many fans. WWE has not yet released details about the nature of Rollins’ injury or his expected recovery time.

CM Punk made his return to WWE at Survivor Series last month, defeating Drew McIntyre. This will be his first opportunity to win a WWE world championship as returning to the company.
