Private Gas Stations Limited to Diesel Imports Until March 2026,Afterwards Must Purchase from Pertamina
Jakarta – The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has stated that private business entities operating gas stations will only be permitted to import diesel fuel until March 2026. Starting in April 2026, all diesel fuel needs must be met from domestic oil refinery production.
Director General of Oil and Gas (migas) at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Laode Sulaeman, explained that this policy aligns with the government’s plan to cease diesel fuel imports by 2026, and is consistent with the operationalization of the Refinery Development Master Plan (RDMP) project.
“The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources has announced that in 2026 we will no longer import diesel fuel. Yes. The RDMP is already operational, but operationally, the RDMP or Pertamina will need three months of preparation.Three months of preparation, after that there will be enough stock for everyone, including the private sector, and in April we will stop everything,” he said during a meeting at the Ministry of energy and Mineral Resources Office, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (2025/12/24).
