**Dodgers Win World Series, Spark Celebration and Chaos in Los Angeles**
Los Angeles erupted in celebration after the Dodgers clinched victory in the World Series, bringing home their coveted championship. While most fans celebrated peacefully, a smaller group turned violent, leading to property damage, arrests, and tense confrontations with police.
Video footage captured scenes of jubilant fans pouring onto the streets, setting fire to a city bus, breaking into stores, and setting off fireworks. Police responded with force, deploying less-lethal munitions to disperse hostile crowds and making 12 arrests. Charges ranged from failure to disperse to receiving stolen property and commercial burglary.
Mayor Karen Bass acknowledged the excitement, stating, “the overwhelming majority of celebrations last night were joyful and peaceful,” while emphasizing that “violence of any kind will not be tolerated.” She plans to send a Dodgers jersey to New York Mayor Eric Adams, fulfilling a playful wager stemming from the Dodgers’ victory.
“The individuals that were involved in that last night was a very small segment of the east Los Angeles community because most of them were out celebrating because they love their Dodgers,” remarked Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna.
**Parade Plans Amidst City Cleanup**
Despite the unrest, the Dodgers will proceed with a victory parade scheduled for Friday, coinciding with what would have been legendary pitcher Fernando Valenzuela’s 64th birthday. Fans are encouraged to celebrate responsibly, utilizing public transportation and avoiding illegal activities like street takeovers, firework displays, and reckless driving.
Mayor Bass, sporting a Dodgers jersey, urged Angelenos to embrace the occasion while maintaining safety and order. “We will work to keep Angelenos safe as always,” she asserted.
