Epstein Files and Cryptic Language: Decoding ‘Pizza,’ ‘Ice Cream,’ and Beyond

The recently released documents from the Department of Justice investigation into Jeffrey Epstein have sparked renewed scrutiny, not just of the individuals named within them, but also of the seemingly innocuous words that appear with unusual frequency. Terms like “pizza,” “ice cream,” and “dentist” are raising questions, prompting speculation about potential coded language within the vast trove of data.

The Resurgence of ‘Pizzagate’

The word “pizza” appears over 800 times in the Epstein files, triggering a resurgence of the debunked “Pizzagate” conspiracy theory. This false claim, which went viral during the 2016 U.S. Presidential election cycle, alleged that high-ranking Democratic Party officials were involved in a child sex trafficking ring operating out of a Washington, D.C. Pizzeria, Comet Ping Pong. Pizzagate has been extensively discredited by law enforcement and numerous organizations.

Cryptic Exchanges and Common Terms

Although the connection to the debunked conspiracy is notable, the appearance of “pizza” within the files is also found in seemingly mundane exchanges. In a 2018 email, Epstein’s urologist, Dr. Harry Fisch, referenced Epstein’s prescription for erectile-dysfunction medication and then suggested, “wash your hands and lets go get pizza and grape soda.” Another redacted email simply states, “Lets go for pizza and grape soda again. No one else can understand.”

‘Ice Cream’ and Connections to ‘The Girls’

The term “ice cream” appears 583 times in the files, often in proximity to the phrase “the girls.” According to reporting by New York’s Intelligencer, an Epstein employee in Florida told the FBI that Epstein “enjoyed getting ice cream from a local ice cream parlor with the girls.” LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman allegedly emailed Epstein in 2014 about sending gifts, including “ice cream…if you have any interest, you should try – else for the girls.”

Other Peculiar Mentions: Beef Jerky and the ‘Dentist’

The files also contain 380 mentions of “beef jerky,” leading to outlandish speculation about cannibalism. Though, the files indicate that Epstein’s private chef, Francis Derby, frequently made or supplied large amounts of jerky. The word “dentist” appears 1688 times, with numerous emails referencing dental appointments and Epstein paying for dental work for others. Photos taken on Epstein’s private island revealed a room containing a dentist’s chair, adding to the unsettling context.

The Challenge of Interpretation

The sheer volume of data within the Epstein files presents a significant challenge. While some references are easily explained, others remain cryptic, inviting speculation and analysis. The combination of seemingly innocuous terms with potentially disturbing undertones underscores the complexity of deciphering the full scope of Epstein’s activities.
