Bergen Police Investigate Break-in Targeting Bunad Silver and Jewelry in Fana District

Bergen police are investigating a burglary in the Fana district after a resident returned home on Sunday evening to discover their residence had been broken into. The perpetrators gained entry through a second-floor window, and the stolen items include silverware, bunad silver for four bunads, jewelry, and rings, according to authorities.

Similar Burglaries Reported

The method of entry – removing window moldings and glass – is consistent with a series of burglaries that occurred in Fana prior to Christmas. In December, two Eastern European men in their 30s and 40s were arrested in Stavanger and detained in connection with those earlier incidents. Dagbladet reported on the initial investigation.

Police Urge Vigilance

The resident had been away from the home since Saturday morning and discovered the break-in around 7:30 PM on Sunday. Police are currently assessing the full extent of the stolen goods. Operations Manager Knut Dahl-Michelsen of the West Police District is urging residents to accept preventative measures as the winter holiday season approaches.

“We want to warn the public now that the winter holidays are coming, and encourage people to ally with neighbours, possibly install surveillance cameras or lights with motion sensors,” Dahl-Michelsen stated. Bergensavisen also covered the police’s advice to the public.
